After moving to new house my treadmill stopped working, I called Boost Gym Service and Igor came the next day to repair it. He did everything super fast and professionally, explained how I can do maintenance by myself and gave useful tips. The price was fair. Thank you so much, will definitely use the service again. Highly recommend in Palisades Park!

Arthur came and looked at my Treadmill found the issue, and said it needed maintenance, which I knew it did, I asked if he could do it, his office called me back with a total price. Arthur did the maintenance and showed me what he did, the Machine looked like new, he was very pleasant, and would certainly reach out to him again.

Arthur was fantastic. He arrived and let us know the problems we had with the treadmill and showed me each part that needed repair. In the end, we decided not to repair our treadmill, but it was a good experience working with this company.

Most stationary bikes in 07055 end up in a bedroom corner or a cramped living room — Passaic's older two- and three-family homes near Paulison Avenue don't have finished basements to spare. A Sunny Health & Fitness cycle or Schwinn IC3 works fine there until the flywheel starts grinding or the resistance knob goes soft. Passaic River humidity doesn't help either — it speeds up felt pad glazing and corrodes console boards faster than expected. We fix these bikes on-site, same day most weeks.

Passaic's housing stock runs heavy on pre-war brick two-families and mid-century apartment buildings, especially in zip code 07055 near Passaic Park and the streets off Gregory Avenue. Apartments here skip the basement altogether — bikes live in bedrooms, sometimes stacked against old cast-iron radiators. The humidity from proximity to the Passaic River corridor accelerates wear on rubber drive belts and felt brake components. Buildings from the 1920s and 1930s also tend toward cramped layouts that make moving a 70-lb flywheel bike tricky without disassembly.

Common Stationary Bike Issues in Passaic

Felt Brake Pad Glazing — Resistance Knob Slips or Goes Dead

Sunny Health & Fitness bikes use a felt brake pad clamping directly onto the flywheel for resistance. Bedroom humidity and daily sweat accelerate glazing on the pad surface. The knob starts losing range — full tight feels like medium. Replacing the felt pad and cleaning the flywheel contact surface fixes it. Usually a 45-minute job.

Pedal Bearing Failure on Echelon Connect Bikes

Echelon EX-5 and EX-15 pedals see a lot of wear in dense urban apartments where one bike gets shared by multiple household members. The bearing cartridge inside the crank arm grinds down, and the left pedal — which is reverse-threaded — strips out from overtightening. New bearing cartridges and correct re-installation stops the grinding and wobble.

Reed Switch Dropout — Console Shows Zero Cadence

ProForm and Schwinn cycles both use a magnetic reed switch mounted near the flywheel to track speed and cadence. When the switch fails or the flywheel magnet drifts out of alignment, the console goes blank mid-ride. The reed switch itself is a cheap part. Getting the magnet gap set correctly — typically 2-3mm — is where the actual skill is.
