After moving to new house my treadmill stopped working, I called Boost Gym Service and Igor came the next day to repair it. He did everything super fast and professionally, explained how I can do maintenance by myself and gave useful tips. The price was fair. Thank you so much, will definitely use the service again. Highly recommend in Palisades Park!

Arthur came and looked at my Treadmill found the issue, and said it needed maintenance, which I knew it did, I asked if he could do it, his office called me back with a total price. Arthur did the maintenance and showed me what he did, the Machine looked like new, he was very pleasant, and would certainly reach out to him again.

Arthur was fantastic. He arrived and let us know the problems we had with the treadmill and showed me each part that needed repair. In the end, we decided not to repair our treadmill, but it was a good experience working with this company.

Branch Brook Park draws runners year-round, but plenty of Newark residents keep a treadmill at home for the days it's just too cold or too dark. ProForm and NordicTrack units are everywhere in the Ironbound and North Ward — and they break. Belt slipping mid-run, console going dark, speed dropping without warning. Most of these issues come down to one or two components. Usually fixable same day.

Newark's housing stock is mostly pre-1960s row houses and two-family homes, especially in zip codes 07103 and 07107. Basements here are damp — not "a little humid" but genuinely wet in spring. That moisture destroys motor control boards and corrodes speed sensor connections faster than you'd expect. Upper-floor treadmills in older buildings also stress floor joists that weren't built for 300 lbs of vibrating equipment. Both situations accelerate wear on the drive system.

Common Treadmill Issues in Newark

Walking Belt Slipping on ProForm Units in Older Homes

Basement humidity warps the treadmill deck over time, causing uneven surface contact. The walking belt starts slipping under load even when tension looks fine. On ProForm models like the 505 CST and Carbon T7, the deck is replaceable — but most repair shops just tighten the belt and call it done. That fix lasts maybe two weeks.

Motor Control Board Failures After Power Surges

Newark's electrical grid takes hits during summer storms, and row houses in the 07106 zip rarely have surge protection on outlets. NordicTrack and Horizon treadmills use sensitive motor control boards that don't survive even moderate voltage spikes. The symptom is the unit powering on but the belt not moving — the motor is fine, the board is fried.

Incline Motor Failure on High-Use Community Center Units

The YMCA on Court Street and several smaller fitness studios in the city run Life Fitness and Precor treadmills at commercial intensity. Incline motors on these units wear out at around 8,000–10,000 hours. The worm gear inside the incline assembly strips out, and the deck either won't elevate or gets stuck at max incline. Replacement parts are stocked for both brands.

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast can you get to Newark for Treadmill Repair?

Most Newark addresses are reachable within 90 minutes from our Essex County base. Parking is easier on residential streets in the Ironbound than near Penn Station. Call (908) 704-9070 or schedule online — we confirm a same-day window before noon for morning requests.

Do you repair NordicTrack and ProForm treadmills?

Yes — both are Icon Fitness brands and share a lot of parts. Common fixes on NordicTrack include console replacements and speed sensor reseating. On ProForm, it's usually the drive belt, deck, or motor control board. We carry parts for both in the van.

What does treadmill repair cost in Newark, and do you charge for the visit?

Diagnostics run $65, applied toward repair. Most belt and board jobs land between $120–$220 parts and labor. We give a flat quote before touching anything. Same-day service is available — call before noon and we can usually be there by evening.
