After moving to new house my treadmill stopped working, I called Boost Gym Service and Igor came the next day to repair it. He did everything super fast and professionally, explained how I can do maintenance by myself and gave useful tips. The price was fair. Thank you so much, will definitely use the service again. Highly recommend in Palisades Park!

Arthur came and looked at my Treadmill found the issue, and said it needed maintenance, which I knew it did, I asked if he could do it, his office called me back with a total price. Arthur did the maintenance and showed me what he did, the Machine looked like new, he was very pleasant, and would certainly reach out to him again.

Arthur was fantastic. He arrived and let us know the problems we had with the treadmill and showed me each part that needed repair. In the end, we decided not to repair our treadmill, but it was a good experience working with this company.

Goffle Brook Park draws a lot of walkers, but half the fitness crowd in 07506 never leaves home — they're grinding through morning sessions on NordicTrack or Precor units tucked into finished basements off Lafayette Avenue. Squeaking pedals and dead resistance motors are the two calls I get most from this part of Passaic County. The fix is usually same-day if you catch it before the flywheel bearing goes completely.

Hawthorne's housing stock runs heavily toward postwar colonials and 1950s-60s ranches, and a lot of those basements were finished in the 80s and 90s — not exactly ideal conditions for electronic fitness equipment. The 07506 zip has more than its share of ellipticals crammed under low ceilings with limited airflow, which accelerates wear on drive belts and console boards alike. Homes on the east side near Rea Avenue tend to run older electrical panels, which can cause erratic resistance behavior on motorized units.

Common Elliptical Issues in Hawthorne

Flywheel Bearing Wear from Basement Humidity

Basements in Hawthorne's older colonials hold moisture year-round, and that works its way into the flywheel bearing assembly over time. On Life Fitness and Precor units, you'll first notice a grinding or rhythmic squeaking mid-stride — not a belt issue, even though it sounds like one. Left alone, the bearing seizes and takes the flywheel housing with it, which turns a $90 repair into a $400 one.

Resistance Motor Failure on NordicTrack Units

NordicTrack ellipticals — the FS7i and SE9i show up constantly in Hawthorne service calls — use a magnetic resistance motor that's sensitive to dust and lint accumulation. The resistance stops changing mid-workout, or locks at one level entirely. The motor itself is usually fine; the controller board connecting it to the console is what fails. Replacement boards run $60-120 depending on the model.

Pedal Axle Wobble on High-Use Peloton and Technogym Machines

Upper-middle-class home gyms in this area lean toward Peloton and Technogym, and both brands share a known weak point: the pedal axle bolt backing out after 18-24 months of regular use. You'll feel lateral wobble on the left footpad first. Retorquing the axle fastener fixes it in 10 minutes, but ignoring it shreds the pedal arm threads and requires full arm replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast can you get to Hawthorne for Elliptical Repair?

Most Hawthorne calls are reached within 2-4 hours from our Passaic County route. Street parking is straightforward on most residential blocks. Call us directly or schedule online — same-day slots open most weekday mornings before 11.

Do you repair NordicTrack and Peloton ellipticals?

Yes — NordicTrack, Peloton, and Precor are the three brands I see most in Hawthorne. Common fixes include console board replacements, drive belt swaps, and resistance calibration. Technogym parts take 1-2 days to source but are usually available.

What does elliptical repair typically cost in Hawthorne?

Most repairs land between $85 and $250 for parts and labor. Bearing replacements and console swaps are on the higher end. Emergency same-day service is available — call to get a phone estimate before we come out so there are no surprises on arrival.
