After moving to new house my treadmill stopped working, I called Boost Gym Service and Igor came the next day to repair it. He did everything super fast and professionally, explained how I can do maintenance by myself and gave useful tips. The price was fair. Thank you so much, will definitely use the service again. Highly recommend in Palisades Park!

Arthur came and looked at my Treadmill found the issue, and said it needed maintenance, which I knew it did, I asked if he could do it, his office called me back with a total price. Arthur did the maintenance and showed me what he did, the Machine looked like new, he was very pleasant, and would certainly reach out to him again.

Arthur was fantastic. He arrived and let us know the problems we had with the treadmill and showed me each part that needed repair. In the end, we decided not to repair our treadmill, but it was a good experience working with this company.

Main Street's older mixed-use buildings and the residential blocks spreading out from Downtown Hackensack were built long before anyone put a NordicTrack FS14i in a basement. The 07601 zip has a lot of pre-war housing stock — and pre-war basements collect humidity year-round. That moisture is the number one reason elliptical console boards and resistance motors die early in this part of Bergen County.

Most homes near the Breslin Building corridor and the side streets off Main Street date from the 1920s through the 1950s. Downtown Hackensack's pre-war housing stock is the main culprit — single-family colonials and two-family brick rowhouses without vapor barriers, sitting on concrete slabs that wick moisture up year-round. The electrical wiring in a lot of these buildings is either original knob-and-tube or early postwar panel upgrades that weren't designed for a 4-amp resistance motor running an hour a day. A Sole E95 or Schwinn 470 in a 07601 basement will show resistance brake degradation within 18-24 months without servicing. Older home, worse the problem — and Hackensack has no shortage of old homes.

Common Elliptical Issues in Hackensack

Stride arm bearing corrosion from downtown basement humidity

Pre-war homes near the 41 Main Street corridor trap moisture below grade. That humidity works into the stride arm bearings and pivot bushings on NordicTrack and ProForm ellipticals, producing a grinding squeak with every stroke. Left alone, the bearing races corrode through and the repair cost doubles. Catching it early — bearing replacement only — runs $80-120 in parts.

Resistance motor failure on Sole and Schwinn units

The tension control motor on mid-range machines like the Sole E95 and Schwinn 470 takes the most abuse in daily-use setups. Resistance stuck on one level, or jumping randomly, almost always traces back to the brake motor winding or its wiring harness corroding out. We stock common Sole motor assemblies and can usually swap same-day.

Console error codes and pedal wobble on NordicTrack frames

E6 and E7 codes on NordicTrack ellipticals are almost always a failed magnetic resistance sensor or a loose drive belt causing sync errors. Pedal wobble is a separate issue — worn pedal linkage bushings at the crank attachment point. The linkage bushings especially require frame disassembly. Not a DIY job.
